Terms of Service

Last updated: September 2026 · Version 1

1. Agreement to these terms

These terms govern your use of MyTimeDrop ("we", "us", "the service"). By creating an account, creating a TimeDrop, or otherwise using the service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use MyTimeDrop.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information and forms part of these terms.

2. What MyTimeDrop does

MyTimeDrop is a digital time capsule service. You can write messages, record your voice or video, and add photos, then schedule them to be delivered on a date you choose. You can also create an Event TimeDrop, which collects memories from your guests through a private link, and a guided Interview, which helps you find the words for a TimeDrop. Some features require a paid plan or a one-time payment.

3. Your account

You must be old enough to enter into a binding contract to use MyTimeDrop. You agree to give accurate account details, to keep your password confidential, and to accept responsibility for activity that happens under your account. Please tell us promptly if you believe your account has been used without your permission. One account is for one person; family plans are for the members you invite.

4. Your content

Everything you create and upload — your words, recordings, photos and videos — belongs to you. You give us permission to store, process, copy, transmit and deliver it for the purpose of running the service: keeping it until its delivery date, sending it to the recipient you choose, generating an interview draft from what you said, and producing the recordings that go with it. You confirm that you have the right to upload what you upload, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights or break any law.

5. Recipients, Access Phrases and PINs

A recipient proves they hold a link or an Access Phrase and PIN — not who they are. We do not verify the identity of the person who opens a TimeDrop, so please share your Access Phrase and PIN only with the people you want to read it. Keep them somewhere safe. If they are lost, we may not be able to help the intended recipient open the TimeDrop.

6. Events and guest contributions

If you host an Event TimeDrop you are responsible for it: for the prompt you set, for who you share the guest link with, for reviewing the memories you receive, and for obtaining any consent your guests need to give. Guests contribute at their own risk and should not send anything they would not want the host to see. By contributing, a guest confirms they have the right to share what they send, and that the host may keep and use it.

7. Interviews

The MyTimeDrop interviewer is generated by AI, and we say so wherever it speaks. The words and recordings remain yours. The draft TimeDrop is generated from what you said, and nothing is created until you review and approve it. Please do not rely on the interview for medical, legal, financial or other professional advice.

8. Purchases, subscriptions and payments

Payments are processed by Base44 Payments. We never see or store your full card details. Depending on what you choose, you may buy a subscription, a one-time payment for a single TimeDrop, an Event package, a storage extension, or a recovery download. The price is shown before you pay.

Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel, and you can cancel from the Subscription page. Promotional, gift and prepaid codes are subject to their own conditions and may be withdrawn if misused.

9. Storage, retention and the end of a storage period

Paid storage is a minimum guarantee, not a date on which your memories are deleted. When a refund ends an entitlement, or a paid storage period runs out, the memories are not removed. They are held for thirty days, during which you can recover them — by restoring the TimeDrop, extending storage, or downloading a copy where that is offered — and you are told before anything happens. Removal can follow only once that hold has ended and every other condition has been re-checked.

One limitation we want to be clear about: our storage provider gives us no way to delete an uploaded file, so when a record is removed, the file it pointed to may remain in storage with nothing referring to it.

And as our storage notice says, no online system can guarantee against every possible loss. Please keep your own backup of anything irreplaceable.

10. Acceptable use

Do not use MyTimeDrop to upload or send anything unlawful, infringing, harassing, threatening, hateful, deceptive or otherwise harmful. In particular, do not:

  • impersonate anyone, or misrepresent who you are;
  • attempt to break our security, or reach a TimeDrop that is not yours;
  • scrape, overload or otherwise disrupt the service;
  • upload content you do not have the right to share.

We may remove content or suspend an account that breaks these rules, and where appropriate we will report unlawful content to the authorities.

11. Availability and changes to the service

MyTimeDrop is provided as it is. We work to keep it available and reliable, but we cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free service, and we may add, change or retire features. Where a change would materially reduce what you have paid for, we will give you reasonable notice and, where appropriate, a way to recover your content.

12. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MyTimeDrop is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profit or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. We are not responsible for losses caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including outages, cyberattacks, or the failure of a third-party service we rely on.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

13. Ending your use

You may stop using MyTimeDrop at any time, and you can ask us to close your account. We may suspend or end your access if you materially break these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we stop offering the service — and if we do, we will tell you and, where we can, give you a chance to recover your content.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. If a change is material, we will give you notice before it takes effect. Continuing to use MyTimeDrop after a change means you accept the updated terms.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Subject to applicable law, any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the use of MyTimeDrop will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Michigan, and the parties consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
